″I want an evergreen shrub that will grow to 20ft in 2 years and completely block the view of my neighbors′ balcony.″

A privacy fence. What you want is a privacy fence.

″I want a low growing green groundcover that I don′t have to mow and my dogs can run around and dig in.″

That′s a carpet. Just put down artificial turf if you want artificial turf.

This is why we have invasive species getting churned out by big box nurseries and planted in the hundreds of millions.

Or are people′s expectations like this because it′s considered normal to use invasive species as landscape plants?
