Overcharge Outstanding Balance
Hey Matterport Community. I’d love some advice regarding an overcharge and now outstanding balance with the service. I am part of a design/build startup and we have been testing LiDAR scanning workflows. I have only used the Matterport service once and the person who scanned the space scanned more area than I requested. They charged me for what I requested and it was paid in full. More than a month after the original charge, Matterport added an additional charge of $332.58 with an item description of:
“Capture Services- actual SqFt was larger than requested SqFt*”.
I can tell where the confusion was because I requested that they capture an exterior elevation leading to the interior and that elevation had a covered shade structure patio that I did not need scanned… but they scanned it without me requesting it. That’s the only sense I can make of this extra charge after the fact. When I saw the charge come through to my email, I reached out to Matterport customer service to inquire and dispute the charge. The nice lady in the call center said she understood and would get back to me with what they determined after speaking with the capture service provider. I now just got an email saying I have an outstanding balance of today.
Being a startup, we are really trying to control costs and Matterport seems like it will be very difficult to do so. For that reason, I don’t want to use Matterport after this experience I feel justified in NOT paying the addition cost for the service I didn’t ask for, but I’m also not trying to short change anyone. I’m ok not having access to the Matterport platform and scan that they did, but I’m also not looking to for something as silly as this miscommunication to escalate to collections or something ridiculous like that.
Has anyone here had a similar experience or advice in who to speak with to clear this up?.. My effort with customer service didn’t seem to help since they never tried contacting me again and just resent the same email with attached invoice for the additional charge.
