It's been 1 week since my diagnosis

Support Needed (Kind Advice and Commiseration)

I'm 32, so honestly it's been really tough, and I'm still coming to terms with it. They have a lot of supportive reading materials for after go help navigate it all but i think it's going to take some time, did anyone else struggle with this ?

I'm trying to give myself grace more than anything, I only have one friend and my husband, and most friendships have ended in toxicity or bullying in some form, usually because I was the scapegoat of the friend group, if someone did anything against my core values I struggled to stay quiet and was outspoken, cheating for example was one that I wouldn't sit by silently and watch, and for speaking out I was always ostracized.

But now I'm isolated mainly, hopefully I can join some autism groups near me and things start to look up, I didn't have much people to tell about my diagnosis, I told my mum and she basically said 'so how's this going to change anything' 😑 but for the first time in my life, I finally feel seen, after over a decade of back and forth with the gp, therapist's, support workers, and being brushed off as having anxiety and given the next pill on their list, I was finally seen and listened to, being social and fitting in anywhere has been a difficulty my entire life and I feel validated.

Just navigating acceptance and changing from I have autism to I am autistic I guess. Thank you to anyone who reads and any advice is welcomed ❤️
