Married to a guy with ‘nice giy syndrome’
My husband and I have been married for 17 years and have three kids. He has classic nice guy syndrome and he’s codependent on me. We are really good friends, but I feel like we are just roommates at this point. I do find him physically attractive when he does take the initiative, but most of the time he is focused on me and my moods so much to where he is just acting a certain way so that I will become happy again so that he can relax. It’s super exhausting to have someone focused on you so much all the time to the point where I just turn off all my emotions and I can’t even handle him. I’ve been trying to help him which probably isn’t helpful, but I love psychology and I got him no more Mr. nice guy the book. I also got him a codependency book. He’s been catching on and some things have changed, but I’m not sure if he can change the point where this relationship can work. I’m not even sure what I should do now, should I do anything or just sit back and do nothing? I guess I’m a proactive person so I like to meet things head on and I’m very driven and tackle things that are bothering me. I am also a stay at home mom and have zero options of leaving if any of you want to say that. I have thought about it many times, I think I might remodel a room and make it into a bedroom for me so that I can sleep in a different room. The housing market is so crazy. I don’t think I could get another place to live. And I don’t have a job or even a way to make income in the tiny small town that I live in. Thank you for any help that you guys can give me!
