A few tips post c-section
One month postpartum and I thought I’d share a few things for those of you who may have elective or non elective c-sections:
-
Know that the first night you’ll likely be “bedridden”, so prep hubby/partner for a night of feeding/changing and don’t be shy to ring the bell for help from nurses
-
As soon as the catheter is out, try get out of bed a few times here and there. It really helped my healing progress faster.
-
For getting in and out of the hospital bed, lie the bed flat and use the arm rails to lift yourself up before lifting the back rest of the bed up, this will help you be more upright to get out of bed
-
Pee facing the wall. I wish I had figured this out sooner, but it honestly meant not worrying about splashing. I did this even when I got home and it made a big difference. Straddle that toilet seat!
-
You might need to have anti blood clotting injections for up to six weeks after your surgery. They suck.
-
I swelled up worse than I did when I was pregnant around day 5 pp. Keep those compression socks handy
-
Get a belly band for when you get home, they do make a difference
I hope this helps even one person - cos I wish I had known a few of these things going in for my emergency c-section
