Upgrade - 4 Crew in 1st???

So, I have reached the point where I do not expect to be upgraded. All good. However, as a 1K, 2.8m miler on United and....I paid $850 for an out and back from ORd to BWI to ORD - what is the deal? I appreciate the pilots, and glad for the work they do...it matters.

But, I pay the bills that pays the salaries.... I mean if you took me to dinner and offered to pay, you could have any seat you want. No drama.

Oh well, maybe just a rant. But still it is impolite.
