Thinking on my childhood, I was always the fastest at those timed multiplication table quizzes in elementary school. I never learned or memorized the multiplication table.

In the end, I just got good at counting by all the numbers and then multiplying by 2 if I needed to. 7x6? Well that's 7, 14, 21, x2 = 42. The only one where this doesn't work is 7x9 and I had to memorize that one. Is this the point of "memorization"? Is the whole point of this to actually study something until you come up with a good way to recall it?
