After years of dealing with broken or outdated SIP clients on Linux, I finally got tired of it and decided to build my own.

A lot of the options out there either feel abandoned, have weird bugs, or look like they came straight out of 2001. And judging by discussions in Linux communities, many people run into the same problem when trying to find a decent softphone.

So I started building Meow, a native SIP client designed specifically for Linux.

The goal was pretty simple, a clean, lightweight, native desktop softphone that just works.

Right now it already supports the basics you’d expect from a daily-use SIP client:

* Make and receive calls
* Hold / resume calls
* Call transfer
* 3-way conference
* Contacts and call history
* Multiple SIP accounts
* Audio device selection
* System tray and desktop notifications

The project is still in early development, so bugs and rough edges are expected. I'm actively improving it and would really appreciate feedback from people who actually use SIP or run their own PBX setups.

If you’re interested in trying it out or just curious, you can check it here:

A few notes:

* Currently Linux is fully supported
* Windows support is almost ready
* Android might come later

If you test it, I’d love to hear:

* What works well
* What’s confusing or annoying
* Missing features you rely on
* Bugs you run into

Be brutal. Honest feedback is what I’m looking for.

I couldn’t find a good SIP client for Linux (softphone), so I built my own (looking for testers)
