JioMart (Reliance Retail Ltd) : The Most Reliable Scamster
I had placed an order for the grocery item (Nescafe Gold Blend Decaf) on 2026-02-25 through the seller's online store Jio Mart by making a UPI payment of Rs 636. The item that I received (Nescafe Gold Blend, worth 550, and expiry marked for February, 2026) was different from the one I had ordered. I reached out to the customer care first by raising a ticket and subsequently by contacting the executives over 1800 890 1222. I was promised a refund as I was conveyed that the product won't be exchanged. The delivered product is of no use to me as I don't consume caffeinated beverages.
On 2026-02-28, I learnt that M/S Jio Mart initiated the refund as a Jio Wallet money and not to the source account (bank/UPI). As you may be aware of the fact that the wallet money has a limited utility since you are forced to use it only when purchasing from Jio Mart or its affiliated shopping outlets. When I contacted their customer service executive again (2026-02-28), I was informed that they won't be able to transfer the money to the original source account as "it is their policy".
This is not acceptable to me, I am a student with irregular stipend/fellowship. I cannot handover the control of my money to some e-wallet, they cannot decide how and where I should use my money especially when I rarely use their affiliated services. I believe it is my fundamental right to be able to use my money on my own accord, especially when it is not my fault that they delivered a wrong product.
I raised a complaint on Consumer Forum. Conveyed to the forum the same and asked them to direct Jio Mart to take away the delivered product as I cannot use it in any way (It is still intact, unopened.) Also asked CF to direct Jio Mart to transfer the money from the Jio Wallet to the source account. Surprisingly, on Jio Mart's order details page (screnshot attached), they mention that "Refund completed on 27 Feb. Refund of 636.00 was initiated to the original payment mode." But, it is not true.)
The audacious ass of Jio Mart responded to the CF as:
"We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to you. We are pleased to inform that a refund of Rs. 636 was credited to your JioMart wallet on 27-02-2026 against the order id 177200296505XXXXXW. While placing your next order, you can select “JioMart Wallet” as a payment option at checkout. Please note that the JioMart Wallet can only be used for products sold by Reliance Retail Limited and is not applicable for items sold by third-party sellers. You can also use this amount at Offline Reliance stores. Also, we would like to inform you that as per our internal policy, refund for such instances gets credited in JioMart wallet. Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention and providing us with the opportunity to address it. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter."
You call me as you deem fit, but I will hold this opinion for the eternity: Gu**u bussiness are the most unethically built empires. Stay away from these fuckers! Cheers!
