How to not tip over on mun?

Hello!
I'm pretty new to KSP, and I'm playing on science mode.
I've already "landed" on the Mun a few times, but every time I try, I end up tipping over and:
A: Exploding
B: Reverting my quicksave, and then exploding.

The few times I didn't tip over I tried to go home and then immediately exploded.
I am exploding too much.

After this, I've reverted my quicksave ALLLLLL the way back to before I even took off to do it proper. Does anyone have suggestions to how I don't explode?
