Tips for the aspiring newer player

Resource

Last year I started checking out Gotham's content and enjoyed it. Lately I've really been into his Slowrun series and I decided to try to follow his lead and do something similar.

Late last year I got Black Friday deals on both his training platform (Chessly) and a premium membership on Chess.com and I've been trying to drill openings and play a few rapid games a day. So far I'm up to about 1050 ELO, which seems decent for a beginner.

What else can I do to level up? Drilling openings is easy enough but most of my games are off of the book moves by move 3 or 4 and then I'm on my own.

Any resources you guys recommend beyond what I've been doing?
