dienogest - symptoms coming back after 6months

Hi - has anyone experienced their symptoms coming back after being on dienogest for 6months? the first 4 months were good and my symptoms improved but in the last two months my period and my pain has come back. My dr said I can double my dose to stop the bleeding which I have tried this month and its not working. I am debating making an appointment with my gyne about it but dont want to go in only be told to "hold on" for a couple more months.
