Most of multiplayer games are scam?
Lately, I've been devoting my free time to live service games, and it's finally awakened in me the idea that the market is largely consuming junk. These products are pure garbage, like a lot of multiplayer games that aren't an esport isn't worthy of being called a game at all.
Because look at what I'm focusing on here. I've tried GTA Online, Battlefield 6, and, surprisingly, Deep Rock Galactic — games released at different times and technically belonging to different genres and they all try to trick you into thinking you're actually playing something, but you're not.
These games have a very noticeable gameplay loop consisting of actions that barely require any effort from your smooth brain. You repeat this over and over again, turning gameplay into a repetitive grind. You think, "Okay, I'll grind a little and get something new, reach a new level, so to speak." But here, too, you fall into a trap because the main point of such games is grinding for the sake of grinding.
To make it clearer and to avoid being unfounded, I'll give an example from every game. In GTA Online, I think you'll understand: you lazy tasks, earning pennies to buy property, complete a chain of quests to get money and buy property... In GTA, all you really get are cutscenes that you can watch on YouTube.
Battlefield 6 also really disappointed me because unlocking weapons and any similar progression in general is absurd.
Deep Rock Galaxies quickly reveals itself as an interesting project, but when it comes to overclocking, you again encounter a grind that is just as useless in its essence, since by that point you've literally unlocked all the content.
There are good(!), adequate multiplayer projects like Squad (despite all its problems), TF2 (despite all its problems), Peak, and Deadlock. Just couple of names that I can recall immediately. These games have really really interesting gameplay that doesn't try to lure you into a grind. I just don't understand how anyone can play live services. I mean I think that we should talk about this more often. Sory for the rant I guess you can call it a rant
