Toy Train Compatibility

Got my daughter a Hape toy train from marketplace and she really likes it, but I get annoyed at the lack of options so I want an extension pack but buying new seems a bit much money wise. Anyone know if it NEEDS to be Hape or if other brands are the same size? Hoping some toddler mom out there is a train expert by now.
