Career Advice

Hi everyone, My name is Redwanul Islam. I completed my BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE). After graduating, I tried to find a job in the power sector, but unfortunately I couldn’t secure one. Later, I got a job in a support department where I mainly troubleshoot network issues and handle basic IT tasks. I also have access to OLTs and routers, and I have some experience configuring routers and understanding routing (though I’m still learning). I have completed CCNA and MikroTik MTCNA vendor certifications. The problem I’m facing now is related to my degree. When I apply for networking-related MSc programs such as Cybersecurity or IT, or even some networking jobs, my EEE background sometimes becomes a barrier. So I’m a bit confused about my next step. Is doing an MSc in Cybersecurity or IT a good option for someone with an EEE background who wants to move into networking? Or would doing an MSc in Telecommunications be a better choice since it aligns more closely with my EEE degree? I’d really appreciate any advice from people working in networking, telecom, or cybersecurity. Thank you!
