Am I overreacting to this?

I’ve been going out with this guy for 2 months now. We’re not exclusive and it’s medium distance thing (2 hours apart). I was really liking him and was hoping for a serious commitment up until recently. He couldn’t come see me last weekend due to him having to pet sit for a work colleague. Which is fine, I don’t mind that but the way he explained it made me feel really hurt and I can’t tell if I’m overreacting for wanting to step back from this.

During a video call, he explained that he couldn’t come to due to pet sitting and then he said “I would prefer to come see you, but you know I’ll get money and I’ll be able to relax which will be great! And besides we’ll see each other soon anyway”. It stung so much for some reason that I felt like crying and I ended our video call 30 minutes into the conversation. I cried after I hung up. I’m still talking to him but I’m a bit more distant now and I’m looking at other options. Am I overreacting?
