My Experience Paying Rent through Bilt/Venmo

Seeing a lot of people on here share similar experiences to mine, so I figured I would share...

I submitted my rent payment via the Bilt/Venmo option on the morning of 02/27. (Yes, I know I probably should have submitted it earlier. I told my landlord what I was doing, and he was cool with the payment being a few days late if need be.)

The money was taken out of my account on the morning of 03/02. After reading various posts on here about the lengthy processing times, I decided that if the payment was not sent by C0B 03/04, I would cancel the transaction and pay rent as I normally do.

The deadline comes, and no payment has been sent. I canceled the payment on the evening of 03/04. The original payment was refunded to my account on the morning of 03/05. Thus, my biggest concern, the original payment being stuck or lost, was relieved fairly quickly.

Moral of the Story: The lack of transparency from Bilt and the ensuing mental anguish caused by my biggest monthly expense being in limbo for an extended period of time have rendered the housing benefits of this card obsolete. I will likely hang on to the card because I like the 3x on groceries and the transfer partners. However, I strongly recommend that everyone think twice before utilizing the housing payment features, as a few thousand points are not worth a week of headaches and financial anxiety.
