Products to try?

Help!

I have very straight hair but have a child with curls (2B, I believe). I've had no idea what to do with it as she grew up! I tried taking her to a fancy salon for a curly hair routine but really came away with no advice outside of "use a diffuser". Now that she's older she is more interested in making her hair pretty.

Recommendations for products/routines to try to help maintain the frizz, enhance the curl, as well as the terrible knotting at the nape of her neck.

Current status:

  • Shampoo twice per week (although her roots are straight and get oily so sometimes we have to add a third).
  • Shampoo/condition (OGX coconut curls), leave in conditioner spray (tried various types and unsure what we have right now)
  • Wrap in a turbie towel to dry for 30 minutes
  • Leave in spray again
  • Air dry (rarely does she agree to diffuse it)
  • Sleep is always braided (she doesn't like the way a pineapple feels), bonnet, and satin pillowcase

First photo is air dried after a shower. Second photo is what it looks like the on a non-shower day.
