Have any of you lost attraction for men as you've gotten older?
Hey ladies can anyone relate to this? Maybe it's because I've hit my 30s and my discernment is on hyperdrive.
I 30f am struggling to feel attraction for men. I'm dating again and things are going fine, I guess, but I really am not feeling it for these guys. They're perfectly fine, but something keeps preventing me from going "Hell yeah, I want this one!"
If I'm physically attracted to them, something about their personality or mindset puts me off. If I'm intellectually or emotionally attracted to them, I am just not turned on by their appearance. When there's some overlap, they're still just alright in the end.
I know it's not that I didn't magically become a lesbian because I'm still very attracted to celebrity men. (Looooove me some Aaron Pierre and Paul Mescal!) But that's probably because they're handsome and successful men that only exist as theories in my mind, not real flesh-and-blood human beings that I'm encountering in my life.
When I was younger I used to get crushes at the drop of a hat. But now every guy is just Some Guy.
I haven't been excited about someone in ages; I've gotten close by being excited with the potential of a connection, only to have that hope dashed by their goddamn actions. Describing "my type" is literally describing the hero of a romance novel: big, buff, long hair, nature- and family-oriented, kind-hearted, doting, climbs mountains, has an advanced degree in law or architecture and reads Russian novels, wants to elope and never post on social media. Like, that's it. If that man actually exists he's been married for a decade.
I just miss being excited about someone, having a girly crush that makes me wanna giggle and kick my feet. Now every guy I meet makes my hoo-ha go "...eh" and "I guess..."
Is this just discernment? Or is it over for me!? I hate it here!
