This clip came up on my fyp and it really made me sad all over again - not just for Jeremiah but for everyone involved.

It’s a brilliant scene showing the realistic aftermath of how one would feel after their world was shattered due to betrayal and broken trust.

Jere being who he is, apologises to Laurel for his behaviour - imagine that. His whole world came crashing down and he’s still feeling bad about having a bad day and reaction to others around him.

He asks her to take in the food he made and the gifts he bought despite him not being able to enter his own home - he’s still thinking of others.

He tells Laurel he’s not ready to hear from Belly which is fair - him receiving that ‘merry Christmas’ text from her must of hurt like hell but he doesn’t reach out until he’s ready - which is also fair.

By New Year’s Eve he’s made a decision to face up to what he’s been scared of and calls Belly - it’s not a long conversation and he closes the door on the past, telling Belly that he’s good.

I honestly don’t think that conversation was long enough or addressed any type of closure and I don’t think they spoke much after that - it seems that Belly was the one reaching out via text and by the time her birthday comes around there seems to be no contact at all.

There was no real point to this post other than the fact that it’s just incredibly sad to me that a once deep friendship and real connection that they once shared is now gone.

I’m not in the camp of ‘they’ll be bffs again’ - things between them won’t ever be the same again and nor should they be. Too much has happened.

Jeremiah set a boundary - \*go for it, but don’t expect me to be ok with it\*.

I think he’ll stick to that and that’s partly why he probably didn’t text Belly on her birthday because he knew Conrad was there.

Belly asking Conrad \*’and he’s ok with that?’\* in response to him telling her that Jere knew he was in Paris is very telling - they need proper closure.

Whether we see BellyJere have a real conversation in the movie or things just magically happen within a time jump is another matter.
