Cook County BCs
Someone was trying to get a Cook County birth certificate but now I can’t find the post.
I suggest the uncertified genealogical form but you can also order a certified one
You will need the death cert for the subject of the record. You must order from the Cook County clerk, IDPH does not have them.
Keep in mind that Cook County currently has 5 million residents and that vital records is part of the Clerk’s office which does a lot of other things too. Not to slam public employees, but let’s just say that the Clerk’s office is not full of ambitious people. Illinois was very late to Real ID and they are still backed up. It may be a while before you get it.
I think you can get faster processing in person (it’s been a while since I did this). A genealogist or a records service would be more appropriate than a lawyer.
