fpc wont map my mpk mini pads they only trigger channel rack

im trying to map my pads in fpc using map notes for entire bank but it only works if i press keys on my keyboard. if i press the drum pads nothing happens.

controller is an akai mpk mini iv.

my pads ARE sending note on messages. i checked the fl midi debug log and it shows stuff like:

Note On : C3
Note Off: C3
Handled (first chance)

pads are in notes mode not cc. midi channel is 10. controller type in midi settings is generic controller. ports are 236 and 237.

the weird part is whenever i press a pad it always triggers the first channel in the channel rack (my 808 kick). the channel rack row highlights when i hit the pad even if the fpc window is open.

so it basically feels like my pads are glued to the channel rack preview keyboard and fpc never actually receives the note when i try to map.

things i already tried:

• confirming pads send note on
• controller set to generic controller
• restarting fl
• clicking inside the fpc window before mapping
• making sure pads are in notes mode

has anyone had this happen where pads always trigger the channel rack instead of mapping in fpc? i feel like fl is intercepting the midi somewhere but i cant find where.

ive used the mk2 before this one and i deleted all drivers and software before ever plugging in the mkiv but i might have missed something maybe
