Toxic Team Environment Leading to Role Change. Am I Cooked?

Workplace Challenges and Conflicts

I’ve recently (7 months ago) gotten into a line of work I previously had no experience in. The onboarding was absolutely horrendous and I was constantly having to Google/YouTube certain aspects of the job. I watched another employee get pushed out just because the manager didn’t like them. This was definitely a red flag, but this job is an amazing opportunity for me, so I didn’t think too much about it and did my best to keep to myself.

Over time, time my manager slowly delegated all of their work onto myself and another employee. When mistakes are made, or miscommunication occurs, they are extremely quick to blame myself or others and never takes responsibility or accountability for anything. On the flip side, they are also extremely quick to take credit for work that I’ve done. They also have a habit of blasting me specifically in our group chats when an issue arises, placing blame on me instantly and aggressively. They will make me look like an idiot in front of everyone and then just send screenshots without saying anything. The end result is me being told to “figure it out and get it done even if I have not been trained to do what needs to be done.

I had enough of it this week and brought it up to my higher-ups, who agreed that none of what has been going on is okay. Now I am being moved to an entirely different team and put on FT remote so no one from the previous team can see me and harass me. It’s been talked about that I may go into the office one day a week, but at this point I am extremely uncomfortable with the thought of being around anyone from the previous team as they are all now treating me like an outcast.

A problem with a job arose yesterday that I’ve been working on rectifying and when I asked my other teammate for help, they ignored me and then later told me they’d do it if I was “incapable of fulfilling [my] job duties” as if they wanted me to admit I couldn’t do it myself before they would help me. I of course said I’d handle it.

Today and tomorrow I am using sick time so I don’t have to interact with this team anymore as my team swap will happen next Monday. However, the problem from yesterday is still not resolved and I am still working on that today despite using a full day of sick time.

I’m worried that these people will still try to sabotage me and I’m worried that I’m going to be looked at as a problem or liability due to all of this. I really like my job and I want to keep it, but I am worrying myself sick over the possibility of losing it.

What should I do? Should I prepare for anything?
