Credit Card Fee on Parking Meters?

Recently an added fee has been appearing on downtown parking meters. I assume this is some kind of credit card processing fee, but the city's website claims there is no fee for paying for parking with credit cards. Is this just another "convenience" fee the payment processor added on? It's not much but still adds to feeling of being nickel and dimed every time I head downtown.
