My friend’s boyfriend added me on Snapchat, flirted with me for months, then suddenly removed me — now I’m confused about what’s going on.

I’m part of a trio friend group, and both my friend and I have boyfriends. My friend has been dating her boyfriend for a while now. Here’s what happened. Out of nowhere, my friend’s boyfriend added me on Snapchat. At that point, we had all known each other for about two years, but he had never added me before and we had never really talked. When I saw the request, I didn’t immediately add him back. Instead, I texted my friend and told her that her boyfriend had added me, and I asked her if she was okay with me adding him back. I told her that whatever she decided, I would respect it. She said it was fine, so I added him. For the next week or two, we were just sending normal snaps back and forth. Eventually, he started texting me as well. Over time, some of his messages started to feel a bit flirty, but I never responded in a flirty way. I always kept the conversation normal. Another thing is that he had turned on disappearing messages in the chat (where messages delete after they’re viewed). At some point I changed the setting so that messages would stay instead of disappearing. A few months later, something strange happened. One day after I came back from my chemistry exam, I opened Snapchat and saw that he had removed me. I was really confused. Around the same time, my other friend (who is also part of our trio) told me that he had removed her from Snapchat too. We were both confused about why this happened. I didn’t want to get involved directly, so I asked my friend to ask his girlfriend about it since she’s closer to her. My friend asked her why her boyfriend removed her on Snapchat (without mentioning me because I didn’t want to get dragged into it). The girlfriend replied saying it might have been a mistake and that she would ask him the next day. Then the next night, he suddenly added both of us back on Snapchat. Around the same time, the girlfriend posted a story from another Snapchat account saying something like: “When you have your boyfriend’s phone.” My friend showed me the story from her phone. Now I’m honestly confused about what’s going on and what that story was supposed to mean. Was she implying that she removed us from his phone? Or that she was checking his Snapchat? At this point I’ve decided that I’m not going to send him snaps anymore. I only send snaps to my actual friends now and ignore him. Do you think this is the right way to handle it? And what do you think might actually be going on here? (But also I have a bf I know what boundaries mean, so I never talked wid him that way. Also guys they both take the bus and go to home together that day also she went home when the guy removed us and also the guy tried to change the setting again and again so that the chats won't stay and then I feel like when it couldn't happen bcs I had already turned off diissapearingg message, he removed me bcs obviously he was abt to meet the gf ( my friend) and what If she finds out abt the texts he sent me.)

Also my intention is basically to show that I don’t care about their drama and that I’m not affected by whatever they’re doing.
