Upgrading OS drive, what to look for?

I wanna upgrade my OS drive with a new, larger SSD then i currently have ( 118 GB, very cringe) and i just had a few questions.

once i have a new drive is it as simple as copying all folders and pasting in new drive before uninstalling the old one?

Whats the average price range of a 256GB SSD? what specs should i look for?

Are there any well known SSDs i should buy or is storage kind of a similar across the board kind of thing?
