Struggling hard with thesis novelty

Hey there, I'm currently in an MSc in Civil Engineering program, focusing on structural health monitoring.

What exactly do we mean by "novelty"? How do you guys go about looking for novelty in research? Everything looks and seems like it's done alrdy and any idea I think of is proven done after a preliminary literature review. It just feels like I'm combining existing ideas instead of coming up with smth actually novel and my SV isn't quite happy with it. idk what to do at this point
