BonBons in space?

I keep seeing people recommending bonbon trees in space. and of course, it makes sense. cold vacuum which they can survive in, lots of light, easy to set up. but i wanted to confirm some stuff before i commit to this.

1. Do bonbons actually dig themselves out of meteor showers? I saw someone mention it, is that actually the case or will duplicants have to go unbury them after every shower.

2. Do they Actually get cold enough? Do i need to put in any input on my end or can they simply be sat up in space and they will produce without any input, assuming i do pip planting and not farm planting.

3. Snow isnt required if i pip plant correct?
