I still can’t believe I went through with it because the idea of anyone at work finding out was honestly my worst nightmare. Somehow it’s stayed quiet and it’s been months now.

For context, I never really told people at work I was gay. I’ve always had a slightly softer, boyish vibe so most people just assumed I was straight or didn’t really think about it. There was this one guy though, very laid back, quiet, pretty masculine, and at first he never really caught my eye. Eventually I started noticing him more and realised he was actually really cute. Totally not the type I usually go for, but something about how relaxed he was pulled me in.

We had this weird running dynamic where he’d wind me up with dry jokes and I’d take them too seriously. My reactions seemed to amuse him so it became this ongoing back and forth between us.

At some point he found out I was gay, either because someone mentioned it or he’d already figured it out. After that he seemed a bit distant for a while, then one day he asked me about it directly. Once we actually talked properly the whole vibe between us shifted.

What surprised me most was when things finally crossed the line. At work he always seemed quiet and reserved, so I expected him to be awkward, but he was the complete opposite. Way more confident than I expected, and definitely not as innocent as he came across. Let’s just say the laid back guy had a very different side when we were alone.

It mostly happened that one time and after that we both just kind of left it there. No drama, no weird tension at work, just back to normal.

Honestly I don’t regret it at all. If anything it made me realise sometimes two people can have a moment, enjoy it, and then life just carries on.
