BROKEN MAIN QUEST "All the World's a stage" looking for fixes

This main quest is completely broken for me and I'm stuck not being able to progress. When you take the stage as a clown after you say a few jokes to the crowd it prompts you to throw pies at the other clowns, which proceed to just fly through them and not count towards the 5 hits needed. You can kill the two clowns to get to the next part where you have to throw 3 "juggle grenades" through 3 hoops, which just like the pies go right through and doesn't count towards the 3 throws needed. Now as I cant kill the inanimate hoops I'm stuck with absolutely 0 way to complete this bugged quest. I have already reached out to Bethesda support and done everything they suggested and everything I could think short of reinstalling, this quote is directly from Bethesda "This will be resolved in a future update. In the meantime, you can complete the quest objectives by using any other throwable item, such a fragmentation grenade.". This does not work no grenade in the game will trigger it, has anybody found any solutions to this problem or am I just fucked?
