Roth or traditiaon 401k
Hi looking for some advice on whether my partner and I should invest in roth or tradiational 401k.
Background: My wife and I are both in our mid 30s. I work in health care and make 140k a year. I expect this to increase by 2-4% each year for inflation and small raises to ~180-200k in the next couple decades. My wife is a lawyer and currently makes 165k. So together we currenlty make about 300k. Her goal is to make partner in the next 5 or so years, and her salary could double, triple, or even quadruple. Our best guess is her income may increase to somewhere around the 400k-600k mark. We currently have 170k invested total our traditional 401ks and both have the roth IRA option. We are currently contributing the max of 24,500 to our traditioanl 401k right now each year. Additionally we are each doing back door Roth IRAs for 7,500 per year. So we are totaling about 65k investing each year with 15k of that being Roth.
Is it better for us to invest in Roth or traditional 401k? We live in MN if that matters. We will likely work until we are 60 (I may choose to retire earlier if possible around 55). I can provide more information if needed. Thanks!
