Married my whole adult life and lately I can’t ignore this desire to be wanted by other men. How do I even bring this up to my husband?

This is honestly a little scary to write because I’ve never talked about this out loud before.

I’ve been with my husband my entire adult life. He’s the only man I’ve ever known in that way. We built a life together and I do love him, but over the past couple of years something inside me has started to wake up that I can’t seem to ignore anymore.

I’m in my 40s now and I feel more alive in my body than I ever did when I was younger. I’m constantly craving attention, that feeling of being looked at, desired, appreciated as a woman. It’s like my mind keeps drifting into these fantasies where I’m being admired by other men while my husband knows and even enjoys it.

The idea of being shared, of being watched, of feeling that rush of attention… it’s been living in my head more and more. I haven’t acted on anything, but the thoughts are there all the time and sometimes I feel almost desperate for that kind of excitement and validation.

The thing is, I’ve never even hinted at this to him. We’ve always been very traditional and I have no idea how a conversation like that would even start. I don’t want to hurt him or make him think he’s not enough. But at the same time I can’t keep pretending these desires aren’t there.

For those of you who introduced this kind of dynamic into a long marriage… How did you bring it up the first time? What words did you use so it didn’t feel like rejection?

Part of me is terrified… but another part of me feels like I’m finally being honest with myself.

I’d really appreciate hearing from people who have actually walked this path.
