Can my finger be broken without major systems?

So, one night I was playing VR, there was a taller guy, I punched upward; right into the light beneath the fan. I cut it up reallll bad. So I was primarily focused on the cuts. It was late at night so I did not go to get it checked out, then I got it wrapped and elected to just wait it out. Well now it's time to see what to do. My insurance isn't fully figured out.
But here's the situation. It's healed up, but there is a "lump" on the impact above the nuckle that was not there before, it hurts when it's pressured, but I can move my finger fine and there's no hinderence to my usage of it (I'm typing this with it). So, of course I don't want actual Medical Advice, but is it possible there could be issues with a digit that shows no real sign of it?
