Switch Dock no longer works

My switch is only 5 years old. I tend to play it hand held and charge it on the dock but do occasionally play games on my tv. However, since Christmas my dock will no longer charge the switch nor bring up games on the tv. I have tried everything that I can find on how to fix this but to no avail. Does this mean the dock is dead and I need to buy a new one?
