School crush, repost
School crush
Hey people, I'm a 16 year old male who has Autism and ADHD, I've always had trouble socially and I do not look the best physically (I'm not in shape, but I am working on it a lot). I'm really lonely and don't go out much. My parents always say "why don't you hang out with your friends from school" and to be honest they aren't completely wrong but with being Autistic and all, I don't like people in my space (ex: my room). My therapist has said you could go out somewhere instead of staying at home. I also don't think he is completely wrong.
To get to my point, I've always specifically had issues talking to girls up until last year where I made some friends who are girls. In late 2025 I confessed to the girl I like and got rejected, nicely but still rejected nonetheless. It took me some time to get over but at this point I am over it. My therapist and family have said things such as "If you got a girlfriend maybe your self esteem would be better" and I don't completely disagree with that statement. The issue is, as I stated before, I have issues talking to girls in the first place, and that was the first time I confessed to someone, ever.
Now I'm stuck, I like another person, for their personality, not looks, they used to be mean to the girl I \*liked\* and once they were called out for it, made an effort to change and I really admire that, on top of that, they are cute in my opinion and they are nice to me, talk to me, etc. I would honestly like to start talking to her more. Honestly I believe it is possible they does like me but I said that in the past and was wrong, so I don't completely trust myself in that regard.
I believe they might like me because whenever I'm joking around or teasing them about something she said that is slightly wrong (an example would be 2+2 = 5 or something) or like something just funny in general they kinda blushes and tells me to stop in a playful way, there are other signs but I just can't list them all, that is just one example. FYI they is very smart and so am I (both 80s and 90s students).
Does anyone have advice on how to get closer with them, talk to them more, etc.
I will add some more information just to provide a little more for people to work with:
- I have them on Instagram
- I have them added on Snapchat
- They are in 90% of my classes
- I sit near them in 90% of the classes we share
- I know they like books (I really dislike books)
- They are slightly smarter/get slightly better grades than me
That's about it. Thank you to anyone who gives me advice.
