car? banking? down payment? im new!

so iv recently had the chance to start new, moved in with a family member, shes letting me stay while i pay off my debts & work my credit score up from tanking it living alone since i was 18 (now 22). ive never had to get a car since my first jobs were WFH or down the street & i had all types of grocery stores around me. however she lives in a less developed area (ranches around us, everything is a 15-30 min drive) so i NEED a car now however no clue where to start.

im very anxious behind the wheel. like shaking and almost throwing up (will be taking driving lessons to overcome this)

im in FL, so a fabric interior is a need & reliable AC (with cheap repairs)! should i get a hybrid? i would like one that has a backup cam too but i think most cars have that? nothing huge, a small-mid sized car

im stuck between buying used or new. i currently have $1000 saved, i can easily have around $10k by new years (i want to get a car and start driving by new years) how much would be enough for a down payment?

doing some research i also know that ideally a car loan should be around 3-4 years.

i also wouldnt want a car payment more than $400 a month

if i go the car loan route whos the best? shes a veteran and can get me into navy federal (which ive heard is very good)

later on i would like a smaller truck once im comfortable, how would trade ins work? if i go dealership

so my questions are

- new or used?

- what bank for auto loan?

- what model fits?

- how much do i save up?

im very clueless & family member is not much help (she tries!!)
