Travel warning: investment proposal after meeting someone on Bumble in Bangkok 🍏

I want to share this experience so other travelers can be careful.

I met someone through Bumble and Instagram, and we talked for several months. Later we met in Bangkok while I was visiting. I was enthusiastic with Love - Agape.

After meeting in person, a rental subleasing investment opportunity was proposed. A contract and ID were shown to make the arrangement look legitimate. Based on the agreement I transferred about 40,000 THB, with the understanding that repayments would be made every two months.

When the first payment date arrived, the payment was postponed several times. The explanations included health issues, personal problems, and later a vehicle accident. During this period there were also requests for additional money, which I declined.

The repayment has still not been completed.

Just sharing this experience to remind others to be very careful when mixing online dating and financial agreements, especially while traveling.

Has anyone encountered similar rental subleasing proposals in Bangkok or Southeast Asia?
