Second biopsy in a year, could this be it?

34, F. No children. Unknown family history but not likely any BC in the immediate family. Biopsy next thursday.

This is my second biopsy in a year. The first was for a benign fibroepithelial lesion in my right breast. At the time of biopsy it measured 4.2 x 0.9 x 2.5. I was in the process of consulting about having it surgically removed, but at my six-month follow-up it had shrunk, so I decided to wait and see if it would shrink more.

The good news is that it didn’t grow. The bad news is that now I need a biopsy on another mass on another breast that we have been following and was marked the day we found fibroepithelial lesion but wasn’t every suggested for a biopsy until now.

You would think that after going through this fear and waiting once already I would feel calmer, but I don’t. This one looks and feels different from the benign one, and I can’t help getting in my head about it. I keep thinking that maybe I was only lucky once, and that this previously “likely benign” one that was first marked a year ago could actually be cancer.

I’ve had some breast pain, and I’ve noticed some clear discharge if I squeeze and there was some blood flow spotted during the ultrasound. I am a freaking mess. At the same time, I can’t help remembering how torturous the waiting was last year, and how it ultimately ended up being benign. Still, I’m scared, anxious, and honestly depressed to be going through this again less than a year later. So any guidance or reassurance or advice or brutally honesty would help me.

Impression:

BI-RADS category 4: Low suspicion finding. Interval change in a palpable

1.5 cm mass in the left breast 1:00 location 4 cm from the nipple.

Recommendation is for a left breast ultrasound-guided biopsy.

There is an oval mass in the upper outer left breast at mid to anterior depth which appears more conspicuous. There are no suspicious calcifications or areas of architectural distortion. 1:00 location 4 cm from nipple, there is an oval hypoechoic mass measuring 1.5 x 0.9 x 1.5 cm, previously 1.2 x 0.6 x 1.1 cm on 8/25/2025 and 1.0 x 0.5 x 1.0 cm on 2/26/2025.

During the ultrasound examination the patient noted she has a palpable abnormality in the left breast. During ultrasound scanning this area corresponded with the mass at 1:00 4 cm from the nipple in the left breast.
