Contract work - missed paycheck

My paycheck normally shows up on Wednesday when the official payday is Friday.

My manager didn’t approve my time until Wednesday evening (Tuesday is the deadline) and my check never showed up. I’ve been reaching out to the recruiting agency all day to ask when I will be paid and they say ‘well look into it’ and ‘the official payday is Friday, so if it’s not there by then I’m sure they’ll fix it.’

I have asked multiple times when my check will show up and I can’t get a straight answer.

Is this normal with consulting? I have never encountered it, and it’s irritating.
