New hire - how does time off get scheduled?

I’ve offered a stage tech role. Excited!

And yes I know the question shouldn’t be asked before I start work but … just curious how time off gets managed? We have a big family trip next year and I’d like to know how easy/hard it is to swap shifts or bank time to get the extra days off needed.
