Does anyone know why match voice chat is auto muted?

I only have voice chat on for my groups, but lately I've been getting into team voice chat and thought I'd give match chat a go but it mutes me. In the social menu it shows a mic that's slashed. Googling the issue hasn't really given me any answer.
