Too easy?

Hi! I just was able to book two nights in the middle of the week at avalanche campground for mid July. However everyone told me I would have a really hard time, look for cancellations. I’ve been looking at posts on here and apparently it’s supposed to be super hard to get? Could something change with my reservation?
