Care Health Insurance received an IRDAI Show Cause Notice
The notice followed a thematic onsite inspection conducted by IRDAI from February 10-14, 2025.
The alleged violations span the Master Circular on Operations and Allied Matters of Insurer (2024), the Master Circular on Protection of Policyholders' Interest (2024), IRDAI (Insurance-Products) Regulations (2024), and regulations covering actuarial and finance functions.
Care Health previously received a penalty of ₹1 crore from IRDAI in December 2025 for lapses identified in an earlier 2021 inspection.
IRDAI's inspection wave is not bad news for the industry. It is, in the long run, exactly the pressure the industry needs.
Customers who trust health insurers end up buying more coverage, renewing more consistently, and building the kind of long-term relationships that sustain a company for decades. Trust, as it turns out, is the most commercially intelligent thing in a market this large.
