Deep Owl

So i am a new player Don't even know what just happened. When i was just playing and About to do a Duanting task randomly out of nowhere a Deepowl appered and started talking with me. I said i was passing through thinking it was just gonna leave me alone but the thing just started attacking me. Is there any way i can avoid this from happening again?
