What just happened to the Spanish course vocab??
Wasn't sure whether to flair this with "General Discussion" or "Constructive Criticism" but I think the former may be a better fit.
So I've been using Duolingo for the last 4-5 years, and as many of you likely know there's been a lot of changes during that time. It's also nothing new that Duolingo will intermittently make tweaks to their language courses and as a result will do a best guess for where you should be now based on where you were when they made the update. It can be a bit of a bother, but generally it's the kind of thing where within about a week you'll spot the gaps, pick up on a small handful of missing words and continue chugging along.
BUT WHAT JUST HAPPENED TO THE SPANISH COURSE??? At first I thought maybe I got bumped up 1, maybe 2 units ahead in my current section, whatever. But as I'm scrolling through the unit titles none of these topics looks remotely familiar. And the vocab words are all over the place -- I had to go from Section 4 back to Section 2 before it began to feel familiar (and even then it's like 50/50 between familiar words and synonyms), and even when I look under Practice > Words so Duolingo will show me the ~1,900 words I've learned so far I'll scroll and scroll and scroll until I've clicked the "Load More" button five or six times before I see familiar words with consistent regularity.
None of the unfamiliar vocab is particularly complicated, and some of it I could figure out from context or cognates ('eyyyy at least that feels cool tbh! 😎) but it's as if Duolingo suddenly swapped a gigantic swath of their Spanish language vocab for a completely new roster of words on a whim (i.e. switching from Mexican Spanish to Spain Spanish, or abruptly implementing a frequency dictionary based on an entirely new corpus).
Is anyone else experiencing this?
