Advice on Reapplication
Sooo... I'm in kinda a crazy position.
I've been WL'd from 2 schools, 1 in-state DO, and 1 OOS MD. There is an in-state MD school that I would love to go to, but I have been rejected from twice w/ no interview. I have a good feeling about getting off the WL from the in-state DO school once April comes around. It has good match rates, but is HELLA expensive because it's private.
I was pretty set on the DO school and looking into financial options. HOWEVER, the dean of admissions from my in-state MD (that i was rejected from) just reached out to have a meeting with me regarding my application. He said I would be a good candidate for the school if I had more clinical hours, and if I worked on that aspect of my app, I'd have at least an interview. He was very helpful and kind about finding job positions for me. He said he saw me as an "allopathic physician." Basically, he wanted me to leave my current job, because it's not the right clinical hours (working in a PT clinic). Feeling good about my prospects at that school, but nothing is certain in this life.
Now I'm stuck. If I'm accepted to these WL schools, then it would be impossible to go back and apply again, since it's frowned upon to have a rejected acceptance on your record.
So my options:
-
Get a new job and wait out the WL, see what comes of it. Prepare for re-app but do not close my options
-
Remove myself from the WL and go hard on preparing myself for re-app
-
Give up
My concerns:
-
Having DO A that I reject and being blacklisted from DO re-app. Not getting into this MD. Royally screwing myself
-
Getting rid of my WL and losing the opportunity to go to my only In-state DO if I get rejected from this MD, since I don't know if they'll accept me again after I reject their WL.
Any advice is appreciated.
TY
