Side swipe - no police report

Someone sideswiped me an hour ago 8 miles from my house on a traffic light. Their car sustained a small scratch and mine had some small scratches and door jamb bent a little so when I open the door it’s hard to open. No one was injured.

We pulled into a parking lot. It was pouring hard and cold so we decided to exchange phone and insurance. He was in a rush to leave so I got his license plate registration and lease agreement (he said insurance is via lease). He only got my cell phone.

I plan to call my insurance company first thing tomorrow and inform them of this. Should i go to the police department where it happened and report it also?

Anything else I should do?
