Payout timing for contract workers on home services/ construction jobs

What is a reasonable and unreasonable time table to pay out contractors?

I have a home services business where i have contractors, not employees.

I get a customer call and book a job and offer the jobs to my contractors. They can finish it in a day (niche service, not large complex jobs).

So far i have been paying them on a job by job basis and paying them by zelle the night they do the work. One of my contractors says he does it because of the immediacy of the pay.

I would like to rewrite my contract with them to guarantee payout within 5 days. This is to improve cashflow, i would like to transition to weekly payout, and also to give a couple of days where it might be needed for them to revisit the client if the client calls and still needs help. If i pay them right away, they are not as motivated to go back to the same client's house for no extra pay.

Any general suggestions are welcome. Is it unreasonable to have the contract state a net-5 payment schedule? What software or method can i move to for payouts to contractors as zelle has limits per week and month and I am approaching those limits. It is in the minor construction / exclusion/ and cleanup space, if that matters.

I think in that space there is a general mis trust of them doing work for people and then not being paid ever. I have always paid and am trustworthy to pay. I had a contractor freak out on me this week when I said i would pay him in the morning instead of the evening. I was really taken by surprise because i have built trust with him over months (9 months working together).
