KATSEYE obviously wasn’t Manon’s dream
I feel like eyekons get really defensive whenever this gets brought up, but if you actually look at Manon’s background and interests, KATSEYE clearly wasn’t her original dream.
Before the show and everything, she was already deep into modeling, fashion, photography, traveling, and writing. That whole creative/artistic world seems way more aligned with her. Being an idol is a very specific lifestyle with years of training, constant performance prep, and a really intense work structure, and that just wasn’t the path she was on before.
When you compare that to the other members, the difference is pretty clear. Sophia has always been focused on singing and performing, Daniela literally grew up dancing competitively, Lara has been producing and working on music for years, and Megan and Yoonchae were already trainees before debut (j-pop and k-pop). Their backgrounds are a lot more directly connected to becoming idols.
Manon, on the other hand, was scouted solely because of her visuals. That’s not even me hating, it’s literally how a lot of people get scouted in the industry. I’m not saying she didn’t work hard, but she just didn’t work as hard as the other members, she had no prior dancing or singing skills on a professional level. that comes down to her “laziness” not trying to be shady but it’s just how she operates, she didn’t want to do such a rigorous job, 🤷🏾♀️ it was shown in dream academy where the girls were upset that she wasn’t putting in as much work but was getting handed everything.
I just think fans sometimes rewrite the narrative and act like KATSEYE was always her lifelong dream, when there really isn’t much that suggests that. It feels more like an opportunity she ended up taking rather than something she had been chasing for years.
