gun possession

i am 19 years old in polk county. can my mom buy a glock and gift it to me? it’s my understanding i can own, possess, and carry a glock in my glovebox/backpack (unloaded and holstered) so long as my mom buys the gun and gifts it to me. i’ve heard getting a gift affidavit helps prove legal ownership when stoped by cops but is not legally required. what’s are the actual laws behind this? would she be breaking the law by purchasing it with the intent to give it to me? would i be allowed carry it in my glovebox or a backpack ?
